Hey,

Right around Christmas - Work pauses. Replies slow down. People scatter into homes, holidays, habits, versions of themselves they don’t usually sit with for this long. And in that pause, you start noticing who feels easy to be around when there’s nothing to plan or prove, which conversations feel lighter, which feel heavier than you remembered. Where your body relaxes. Where it braces.

Emotional truths surface not because you went looking for them, but because there’s finally enough space to see them. Edition 13 isn’t asking you to act on those realizations. It’s simply inviting you to notice them without judgment, urgency, or pressure to resolve anything before the year ends.

🧭 Knowing Who Can Meet You — and Who Can’t

Once you notice emotional patterns, it becomes harder to unsee them. You start recognizing where effort flows back to you, and where it disappears. Where conversations soften you. Where they leave you slightly braced, even when nothing “went wrong.” This is not about judgment. It’s about accuracy:

  1. Some people in your life are fixed. No matter how gently you explain, how patiently you wait, or how much warmth you bring — they remain the same.

Others are responsive. They may not be perfect, but they shift. They listen. They meet you halfway. Part of emotional maturity is learning the difference — so you stop exhausting yourself trying to make every connection flexible.

  2. People-pleasing often looks like endurance. Staying longer than you should. Adjusting again. Telling yourself it’s fine. But wearing the wrong size always ends the same way. With discomfort you learn to ignore until you can’t.

The problem was never your effort. It was the fit.

  3. Relationships are similar. Not every connection is meant to carry the same weight. Some people can hold depth. Some are for lightness. Some stay steady. Some fracture under pressure.

The mistake isn’t having different kinds of relationships — it’s expecting every one of them to meet you at the same emotional depth.

The time around Christmas has a way of making that clear. Not because you’re overthinking — but because the usual distractions fall away. And clarity doesn’t ask you to act. It asks you to recognize.

Some things don’t need fixing. They need honest placement. Some people aren’t meant to meet you here — and noticing that isn't loss. It’s relief.

💡 Her Spotlight

Found her. Loved her. Needed you to see her.

Victoria Drummond - the first woman marine engineer in the UK

Victoria Drummond was failed 37 times. Not because she was wrong, but because the examiners couldn’t accept a woman passing. While Britain told her no for decades, she studied, worked, sailed, and stayed with the machines. During WWII, when bombs fell on her ship mid-Atlantic, she stood alone in the engine room and pushed the engines past their limits, fast enough to save every life onboard.

She didn’t argue her worth. She proved it by staying. Victoria died on Christmas Day, after 40 years at sea, having done the work she loved. Not loudly, not bitterly, not for permission.

If this week has you noticing what endures — let her be a reminder.
